Mr. Arbizu was born in Pamplona where he studied at the Pablo Sarasate Conservatory. Later on he continued his studies with R. Jablonski in San Sebastian and J. Doué at the Ecole Nationale de Musique of Bayonne-Côte Basque with J. Doué.

In 1998 he decided to move to The Netherlands to study at the Hogeschool voor Muziek of Rotterdam with professor H.J. Stegenga whose culture and style of playing has greatly influenced him. He was awarded with the First Prize at the "Fernando Remacha" Chamber Music Contest in 1994.

As a chamber music player has taken part in renowned Music Festivals all over Europe, USA and Canada. He likewise has completed his training with masterclasses of cellists such as J. Starker, W. Boettcher, Ll. Claret, M. Strauss, D. Geringas and S. Isserlis. He has worked with the Basque Symphony Orchestra, Bilbao Philharmonia, Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, Nederland Kamer Orkest, Pablo Sarasate Orchestra and Extremadura Symphomy Orchestra performing under the baton of E. De Waart, H. Vonk, V. Gergiev or C. Rizzi and touring most of the European greatest concert halls, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Herkulesaal of Munich, Tonhalle of Zurich, Theatre Châtelet de Paris, London, Brussels, Bordeaux, Las Palmas, Tenerife.

He has been Principal Cello of the Basque Youth Orchestra and the Rotterdam Young Philharmonic giving concerts in Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. As a member of the Suggia Ensemble he performs regularly around Spain and they made their North American debut appearing successfully in New York State and Ontario.

The desire to keep his musical horizons as wide as possible made him collaborate with the KURAIA ensemble and the Saxophone player Josetxo Goia-Aribe, recording contemporary music. He has as well recorded soundtracks for Spanish, French, British and Argentinean movies such as "La Regenta", "Le Cou de la Girafe", "Secretos del Corazón", "Airbag", "Burning Up", "Luna de Avellaneda" and "Las voces de la noche".

His training has been supported by the Government of Navarre and the Cultural Office of the Spanish Government. In addition to his Diplomas in Cello and Chamber Music, Mr. Arbizu holds a Degree in Law from the University of Navarre and a Master Degree in Cultural Management from the University of Barcelone and the American Symphony Orchestra League of New York.

He has been cello teacher at the "Oreste Camarca" Conservatory in Soria and given master classes at the conservatoires of San Sebastien, Huesca and Tarazona (Aragon). Committed to supporting young musicians in their desire to develop their skills and deepen their understanding of music Mr Arbizu also coaches the Youth Orchestras of Santander and the Basque Country.

Since September 2006, by means of a competitive examination, he holds the position of cello and chamber music teacher at the "Pablo Sarasate" Conservatoire in Pamplona, Navarre.
